FINFORTROP – SUPPORT TO PRIVATE BANKS TO PROMOTE THE FINANCING OF SUSTAINABLE FORESTS MANAGEMENT IN CENTRAL AFRICA
| For several years now, the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) has been financing programs with the AFD for the forest / timber sector, aimed at promoting sustainable logging practices. The FFEM has approved a grant to the Central African Development Bank (BDEAC) for the implementation of a technical support project for financial institutions and logging companies in the Congo Basin area. The provision of technical assistance will enable i) Accompany BDEAC in its project management role ii) Financial institutions in the Congo Basin area project partners by strengthening their capacity to finance sustainable forest management iii) Forest / forest sector operators to structure their investment financing applications. |
In a first phase, FINFORTROP will focus on Congo and Cameroon before expanding its activities to the Congo Basin countries.
