The overall objective is to improve citizens’ quality of life by strengthening climate change mitigation capacities and increasing resilience to its effects. Ultimately, this approach contributes to the country’s sustainable development and supports Turkey’s accession process to the European Union.
The aim of this operation is to identify potential disaster risks linked to climate change, utilise the results obtained to limit losses and strengthen risk reduction capacities. The operation also aims to develop technical, financial and planning solutions to increase stakeholders’ capacity to adapt to climate change and their resilience, in line with EU policies and international standards.
Result 1: Established necessary technical and human resource capacities to identify the potential hazards and risks and adaptation capacity associated with disasters to be induced by climate change in AFAD.
Result 2: Increased local capacity and public awareness to prepare local disaster action plans to avoid, manage and adapt to disasters induced by climate change in the selected pilot regions in line with the principles of the Resilient Cities initiative.
